I find it quite disturbing that people are so quick to blame someone for their loss and not take responsibility for their own actions or neglect.

I support the police in the action they took to protect themselves, a cat and its owner from two huskies on July 17. The huskies' owner did not have their dogs under control as required by law. Indiana and Crown Point laws say an owner must keep their dog under control at all times when not on the owner's own property.

It is very sad and unfortunate the dogs had to be put down, and mourning their loss is fine, but we should be careful when we place blame.

I love animals; however, I would never put animal safety ahead of protecting human safety. I believe the police acted responsibly and did what they needed to do at that moment to protect public safety.
