I am a parent of three children in Lansing District 158. On Dec. 9, you printed a letter from a resident that stated, "Kids do not want to learn. They think school is a play day ... ."

This generalization is utterly insulting to the families in our district. In my seven years as a District 158 parent, it has been my consistent experience that the vast majority of our students do want to learn, and their families encourage and support education.

To attack our children in this way because of anger over a tax increase is inexcusable.
