Daniels will be respected by future generations

I can't help but write a few things about former Gov. Mitch Daniels. “The governor of few words” would be my description of him. He only talked when asked a question, answered thoughtfully and, as a politician, directly (imagine that).

I was in gatherings with him on a few occasions, and I learned a great deal on how to lead. He would rather ask you the questions than give you his own retorts.

Daniels is one of the most intelligent men I had the opportunity to shake hands with, yet he would rather hear other's comments than give you his. This is an extraordinary amount of class for someone in his position.

There were things he pushed that I did not agree with, but that does not change my respect for him.

Daniels will be revered for years to come, by all sides of the aisle. A politician is thanked by those currently around them, but a statesman is thanked by the future generations he sought to protect. Daniels was the latter.
