After almost 20 years of living in Calumet City, our house was ransacked.
I am angry, and I didn't sleep well, thinking that somehow our house wasn't as clean and safe as I once thought it to be. When I woke up, as I lay there trying to muster the will to get up and muddle through the day, I thought, what of the people out East? Some lost everything. Many lost their lives.
Those folks can blame “God” or “Mother Nature,” or like Al Gore in all his glory can blame global warming, but how about us? How about the people who are victims of home invasion and other crimes against the general public? Who do we blame?
At 11 a.m. or so, in broad daylight, you would think that some concerned citizen would have seen someone running down the street with a flat screen TV and took notice.
The day will come when a newscaster will bring out a story about some punk getting shot by a homeowner, and I’ll be like, “I wonder if I can still smoke in jail”?
