Former Lake County Sheriff's Deputy Edward Kabella, convicted for selling fully automatic police issue assault weapons via the Internet to anyone who responded, is seeking a shorter sentence than the five years he received.
In light of Newtown, Conn., and the furor over gun control, how can this convict even speak of leniency? This is the purest example I've ever heard of illegal gun sales, and this was three law enforcement officers selling fully automatic machine guns on the Internet.
It is beyond comprehension that they received anything less than 20 years, let alone asking for a lesser sentence. All involved should be put in the highest security federal prison.
Who knows how many people have been killed by these guns to date? Some things deserve the full sentence, and this is one of them.
