Our federal government has been kicking the spending reductions can down the road long enough. The fact that the sequester exists is an indication that even our lawmakers agree in principle. But what have they done about it?
U.S. Rep. Pete Visclosky, D-Ind., lists many important programs that will be hit hard if the sequester takes place. But I suggest he and the rest of our lawmakers stop reminding us of important programs and start looking for wasteful ones. I’m sure there are plenty.
If they had used their time to identify government waste instead of finding more ways to spend our tax money, they could have fixed this problem a long time ago.
But sadly, I expect that they will find yet another way to kick the can down the road after they kick it back and forth across the aisle any number of times.
