Most recently Oprah, a recognized community leader, mischaracterized a long past circumstance involving young Emmett Till. What should be understood is the unfortunate horrific aggressiveness toward Mr. Till was not a reflection of the entire white population.
Having originated from a similar latitude, Oprah knows without question at that time an overall racial tension existed geographically. Almost everyone from the district had an understanding regarding black males even speaking to white females "out of turn."
Not having been from that area and not realizing the seriousness of his cordial manner, young Mr. Till crossed the line unknowingly violating an injurious code.
The resulting atrocious hostility was a complete and overwhelming shock to folks not from those stations and in many ways disproved and condemned. That's the other side of the coin. Oprah most definitely realizes her achievement to status of billionaire over the past 30 years in a predominantly white surrounding. It would be so much better if we respected each other, except, it's so easy to find fault — or create it.
