I have decided to reach into my piggy bank to offer a $100 reward to anyone who can tell me the name of the person who in the last 100 years has done more good for Valparaiso than Jon Costas, our mayor, ably aided by the Valparaiso City Council.
Forty four years ago I started driving on roundabouts in Europe. Since then I've used them on every continent in the world except Antarctica (I couldn't find any roads).
I can't understand why highway engineers in the early 20th century did not design roundabouts on American roads. They are so practical and time-saving.
"Roundabout City," might be a new nickname for our town. Three bad bottlenecks have been removed and driving around town is fast and fun. Who in the last 100 years has been more beneficial than Mayor Costas?
I offer a $100 reward for the name of that person.
On Jan. 31, Doug Ross said it best, "Roundabouts show how Costas turned Valpo around."
