Give teachers contract, respect they deserve

As a parent of two graduates and a current student, I am deeply concerned about the fact that our hardworking, dedicated teachers in Crete-Monee School District 201-U have been working without a contract since Aug. 16.

Our math team placed third at regionals. ACT test scores have steadily risen, and recently nine varsity football players signed letters of intent, which is the most in our high school's history. We owe all of this and more to our teachers.

I urge parents and residents to write to the members of our School Board and insist they give our teachers the respect they deserve and negotiate an acceptable contract now.
