Government officials cut our spending, not theirs

Local media and politicians assume people do not mind the new 1.5 percent county tax. While you struggle with your smaller paychecks, remember our local government officials will soon receive raises with the new county tax money.

The Lake County government budget was $10 million short, so they created a new tax that would take an estimated $140 million from your pocket. You, our local businesses and especially retirees, will soon feel the pain. No Republicans voted for this new tax.

If these same tax-and-spend county officials are re-elected, will they even blink an eye before they increase your county tax to 3 percent? Apparently they never learned to cut spending, but we are forced to cut ours.
