This is in answer to the letter published on Dec 21. I am a combat veteran. I served my country honorably for 14 months in Korea. And yes, I was issued a gun and was taught how to use it. That gun is the reason I am able to write this letter today. My gun served me well on many occasions.
I have a permit from the state of Indiana, and I can't understand when a completely insane man takes the lives of 26 victims why anyone would want to take away our right to carry a gun for self-protection. What is happening in our country now, with all the car hijackings and armed robberies everyday? Yes, I do feel safe in being able to own and carry a gun.
