I firmly believe a free society must be well-informed. I wonder how this is possible when Merrillville history teacher Amy Brailey writes a misinformed, ranting screed concerning the Affordable Care Act and calls it a reasonable argument.
The Universal Declaration of Human Rights is a beautiful document, but it is no more a part of our Constitution than the Boy Scout code or the Ten Commandments. Hospitals are not legally bound to perform abortions; nor are all Americans legally forced into government health care.
Also, the Congressional Research Office estimates an annual fine for an employer with 50 employees would average $40,000.
How can someone with purported knowledge of our country call a representative democracy with checks and balances tyrannical? Americans elected government representatives, and that is the government we get.
It is a sad time when people choose their facts based upon raw emotion rather than rational engagement.
