I cannot support fiscal irresponsibility any longer

I am a small business owner in Lake County. I recently learned the newly activated Lake County income tax is three times the income tax in Porter County. Yes, Porter County tax rate is 0.5 percent, and the Lake County rate is 1.5 percent!

On top of that, the assessed property taxes are less in Porter County.

Now to top it off U.S. Rep. Visclosky wants to claim the revenues as his and use them to benefit the few on the South Shore train extension to Dyer.

People in Dyer already have a train 15 minutes away — Metro. Pete should be spending his time on getting a reciprocity income tax agreement with Illinois and creating jobs here.

The morning rush hour trains leave Indiana full. The morning rush hour trains leaving Chicago are virtually empty. Our state income taxes go to Illinois.

I just cannot support this fiscal irresponsibility any longer.
