It is December, and my freshman at Morton High School has not had any homework to date.
We live in Hammond and stay here for the College Bound Program. I believe this is a wonderful program, but if the kids are not successfully prepared for what college is really like, what is the benefit?
There is homework in college, and lots of it. High school should be preparing you for college. My child doesn't even have a geometry book! And no, we do not have fancy laptops.
When I questioned a teacher about this situation, I was told they give the students time in class to do the work, to ask questions, because usually there is no one at home to help and most won't do the homework anyway, plus they want the kids to succeed.
To me, the school wants better test scores, so let's do what we can so these kids won't fail.
