Bravo to Speaker Brian Bosma for making sure that the marriage amendment would get out of committee to the General Assembly for its consideration. I am hopeful that HJR3 and HB1153 will pass the general assembly so the people, the more than 2.5 million who voted in the last election, can voice their opinion on tradition marriage.
This is an opportunity to protect marriage as already defined in Indiana from a single judge redefining it.
Further, those who think passage of these bills would hamper their ability to hire the best qualified help is just nonsense. Indiana has an unemployment rate over 7 percent, as well as our nation. There are plenty of qualified people who are ready and waiting for a chance to be employed. The language in the bills would not change anything they are currently doing.
