I'm skeptical of driver's licenses for illegal immigrants

I don't believe that state Sen. Frank Mrvan's intentions to make the roads safe are true. Can anyone be that naive to think that a person living in this country illegally is going to go to a government office and sign up to be identified just for a driver's license?

If a person is already breaking the law, why would they worry about a license or insurance?

It seems like it is a way to get a picture ID for voting purposes. Instead of a driver's license, perhaps offer a tax ID so the illegal immigrants can enjoy the American dream like the rest of us and pay into this system.

I think that would solve the immigrant problem. Assign temporary tax numbers to all immigrants as soon as they arrive. If a person decides to stay and become a citizen, they already have their Social Security number.

I am not against immigration; let's just make sure everyone lives by the same rules.
