I willingly would have worked extra hours for less
If I choose not to join a union, shouldn't I have the right to choose? Should this decision stop me from being employed?
I remember as a college student in 1970, at age 19, I took a job in the mills because the carpenters were on strike.
My supervisor asked if I could work a double. I was all excited, only to have him come back later and say I couldn't because they would have to pay me time and a half. I said I would work for straight time, but he informed me the government said I couldn't. That was my first experience with Big Brother.
I could see them paying me the time and a half if I was forced to do it. I was volunteering. With the unions and government making these decisions for us, we are becoming a nation of sheep. Everyone wants to be led.
