News of the attack of 14 people at a Texas college by a deranged person with a knife is going to result in obvious consequences. Some politician is going to lobby for background checks for anyone wishing to buy or transfer ownership of a knife.

Knife owners will be required to purchase $1 million of liability insurance against someone using their knife in an attack. Schools will be required to have a knife-wielding guard to protect students. Ultimately, someone will call for confiscation of all knives owned by private citizens.

We must protect the people from knives, because people don't stab other people, knives do.
