IRS shouldn't act as our nation's tax collector

U.S. Sen. Dan Coats said, "Let's get serious on cuts."

I agree with Coats' assessment. But I add the condition that the Internal Revenue Service be completely, and finally, removed as our taxing authority.

Over the years, the IRS has terrorized honest taxpayers into carrying more than their share of America's tax burden. Some of us pay a bit too much tax so we can avoid the expense of being investigated.

Our Congress needs to assess that proposed 19 percent sales tax and make a one-time adjustment, to fit our needs. Periodically, we might need to adjust our sales tax.

Solving this tax problem can become our obedience to our Constitution.
