As Will Township road commissioner, I want to share information on the proposed Illiana Corridor as given to us by the Illinois Department of Transportation.

We have seen the route layout, and at a recent meeting were given IDOT’s suggested road closures. In Will Township, Drecksler, Egyptian Trail, and Crawford Avenue would have overpasses to permit north-south traffic. Will Center Road was presented as on the bubble as a through road. If you understand closing an 80,000-pound improved road maintained with county funds and shifting traffic to a 16-feet-wide gravel road advise me!

As affected landowners in the B3 route, we organized a workshop to Stop the Illiana on Feb. 11. The response was great. With positive information and a chance to unite Indiana and Illinois residents as a solid opposition group, we set a second meeting.

Join us at 7 p.m. Monday at at 30317 S. Will-Center Road, Peotone.
