Kmart intersection works well without roundabout

Why is Valparaiso turning the intersection by Kmart into a roundabout? That's the five-way intersection of Calumet, Vale Park Road and Roosevelt Road. There are already traffic signals at this intersection, and they work perfectly fine -- plus, they're paid for.

I thought this was a time of low budgets, trimming prices, keeping costs low, but what an extravaganza. Plus, what a nightmare it will be to enter into that mess with such a high traffic flow.

If traffic has shown reduction in the other roundabouts in this town, I'm sure it's because people avoid them like the plague.

Is there anyone else out there who agrees with me? If it's not broken, don't fix it.
