The person who wrote the editorial on assault rifles in the paper of Dec. 18 obviously does not know an assault rifle from one of Napoleon's flintlock muskets — as most of the people in Congress do not.

The term "assault rifle" came into our language with the M-16 rifle, and that rifle is really a machine gun and is controlled by the 1935 laws on them. Not one of the guns named in that so called "assault rifle ban" was a machine gun.

That is a term that is used by anti-American subversives to get the sympathy and support of people who do not know that the whole setup is a fraud, used to hassle us and to take legitimate rifles out of our hands.
