The recent auto accident in Elkhart County brings to mind the issue of trauma centers for Indiana within the 15 minute evacuation time. This issue came to light in late 2012 and was supposed to be addressed in March 2013! It is now August, and the Legislature's silence regarding this vital public safety issue is deafening.

Yet there are injured citizens who need trauma care every day, and there is no clear plan of any kind to care for these victims at facilities yet to be designated as trauma centers.

Please address this issue before an evacuation helicopter becomes a hearse for someone seriously injured and their 15 minutes are up!
