The Times Editorial Board is correct in that Lake County needs to get rid of all of its consultants for the E-911 center. They have failed to get the job done.
The Editorial Board is incorrect in the belief that a governing board should be set up to run the center. Lake County's' history proves this never works, costs too much money and provides no oversight.
I suggest the sheriff place ads in trade papers for an E-911 director, interview those who apply and then provide a list to the county commissioners, who would then hire this individual under contract. Oversight would come from the sheriff's department to ensure the E-911 center is being run correctly.
