After reading the article about Sharon Patterson, the mail carrier who rescued the 90-year-old elderly woman, I am compelled to write about the wonderful men and women who deliver our mail every day. They know their people on their routes and know when something is just not right.

Our mailman, Jon, has been on our route in Dyer for years and has not only helped rescue older people but also has thwarted a burglary in progress. He is the eyes and ears on his route, and it is great knowing he can sometimes spot something before anyone even knows there is something wrong.

Let's give a heads up to these people who serve us every day in all kinds of weather conditions and other obstacles.
