Living beyond one's means cannot continue forever

Have we really sunk that low as a society and culture that we can't even save ourselves from our own economic suicide?

Any rational person has to understand that any free individual, organization, state or country can't prosper or even survive for very long by living way beyond their means. Eventually the maddening laws of nature and economics eventually kick in. There is always a day of reckoning.

These endless debt ceiling crises cannot continue. The country cannot maintain a trillion-dollar deficit every year. The national debt cannot increase exponentially every year. Something has to give.

Two things can happen. Either some real leadership will emerge and statesmen from both parties will come together to convince the low-information voter that bitter medicine is needed or we can stay the course of self-serving political expediency that always results in societal decline at best or tyrannical rule as a last resort.
