Dan Carden's April 20 article, "U.S. Constitutional Convention call dropped," quotes Indiana State Senate President David Long, R-Fort Wayne, as lamenting, "It's getting to the point where there's just one government, that's the federal government, and we're implementing their will. Because they have the purse strings they can literally blackmail the states into doing what they want."
Really? Apparently, it is not appropriate for the federal government to play this game with the states, but because Indiana legislators have the purse strings, it is absolutely acceptable for them to blackmail Lake County into doing what the state wants -- for Lake County to pass a local county income tax.
Is this hypocrisy's finest hour, or what?
