Recent writers continue to promote the mistaken idea that additional background checks for firearm purchases will prevent future shootings. U.S. Sen. Chuck Schumer’s bill would not have prevented any of the recent mass shootings. Evil people with intent will always find a means to harm others.

As to more background checks for gun show or Internet sales being needed, the majority of sellers are very cautious and most do the background check or require a federal firearms license to protect themselves. Any seller with a federal firearms license must do the background checks, and this includes gun shows and internet sales.

A writer stated, “Do they not see the growing number of crazies, intolerants, zealots and extremists who want to change our way of life in America?” Take a broader look and see who the real extremists are who are already changing our way of life in America.
