In Newton County, the rumor has been started that we are looking to discontinue our Animal Control Department. Why and by whom this rumor has been started, I do not know.

Newton County has been asked by the Indiana Department of Local Government Finance to cut our annual budget by about 21 percent. This is after we have cut millions already.

Our entire operational budget is on the table for discussion for cutbacks with no prejudice. There are many ideas and plans, but no decisions have been made. We are looking at what best serves the taxpayer.
