I, like many other hockey fans, have been keeping up on the NHL lockout. Hearing that the NHL and NHLPA had reached a tentative agreement was a relief, to say the least.
The lockout might have caused incurable damage to the sport itself. Hockey is usually not considered a major sport in the United States, and the cancellation of at least 480 games is sure to drive away some fans.
The NHL and its players are going to have a lot of work to do to get their fans back on their side. Without extra player appearances, reduced ticket prices and other fan accommodations, many people are simply not going to just run back to the league after being treated so poorly during the past few months.
