Noll's hall of fame should include nonresidents

It's that time of year when the Hammond Sports Hall of Fame welcomes another group of deserving candidates. It's also that time of year when I think how unfortunate that so many Bishop Noll sensational athletes are passed over because they weren't Hammond residents even though attending a Hammond school.

I played shortstop for Noll in 1960 and watched the most spectacular pitching performance by anyone, anywhere. I watched in disbelief as John Wrona pitched four straight no-hitters — not shutouts, but no-hitters! He isn't eligible for the Hall because he lived in Hegewisch.

How many others are cheated because many Noll students are from Hammond's surrounding communities.
