"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants."

-- Thomas Jefferson

The Second Amendment was passed to provide an armed citizenry with protection from a tyrannical government. An unarmed population is very vulnerable. Witness: the Soviet Union, China, etc. In the 20th century, in countries with unarmed citizens, 56 million people were slaughtered by their governments.

Can't happen here? Writing in the New York Times a Georgetown law professor, Michael Seidman, urged Obama to ignore the Constitution and do what he thinks "sensible." Forget checks and balances. Obama needs no urging. He is a wannabe dictator, arrogant and intransigent. His idea of leadership is to direct nasty attacks at opponents. He uses class and racial warfare. His motto: Divide and Conquer.

Will we be citizens or subjects? Meanwhile, keep the guns.
