I listened to President Barack Obama's recent speech where he stated he would not negotiate on the debt ceiling. He has no intention of cutting any spending; he wants to borrow and spend more.
The thing I found most appalling was that he said that if he didn't get the borrowing power he wanted, Social Security and veterans' checks wouldn't go out. His exact words.
I heard no mention of cutting aid to illegal immigrants, cutting pay and benefits to public sector unions, cutting foreign aid to countries that oppose us, like the Arab spring in Egypt, or cutting any pay or benefits to the Congress that keeps spending money they don't have.
He always talks about compromise, but his idea of compromise is for everyone to give him what he wants without any giving on his part.
