Thirty-plus cats are living in a Merrrillville home with an elderly gentleman who can no longer care for them. Treasured Friends, a local animal rescue group, has been helping him with food and relocation.

Merrillville has given him until Dec. 7 to get them out of his house or they will remove and euthanize them as they have no facility to house them. They are all fixed and healthy; they just need foster homes until the local shelters can make room for them.

Local shelters are working with Treasured Friends trying to help by accepting a few at a time as space becomes available.

If anyone can foster a few of these unfortunate cats until a shelter can accept them, please call Deanne at (219) 682-5323 or Diana at (219) 769-1859. Time is running out for these little victims.
