Pension proposal shows why tax was bad idea

Say no to the Lake County Solid Waste Management District’s proposed pension plan. This type of proposal is exactly why the absurdly high 1.5 percent county income tax should have never been passed to begin with.

If you give politicians like this more money, they will spend it with reckless abandon. They just can’t help themselves. Party on the taxpayers’ dime. Christmas bonuses, huge pay raises, why not?

Of course, when there is a pension shortfall (see Illinois), when the bonuses and raises aren’t big enough, let’s just increase the income tax. After all, there is an endless supply of other people’s money.
