My sister entered the Lansing Post Office on Sunday, Dec. 22, (yes, they were open) and was told the best bet for her package to reach my home in Minneapolis was to use Express Mail, their premier (and most costly) product. She was not offered Priority Mail costing half the price.

Express Mail is guaranteed to get there the next day or your money back. The clerk did tell her it might take two days, which still got it there on Christmas Eve, so she opted for the more expensive route. The package was delivered on the 26th.

Inquiring about a refund, the supervisor said she wasn’t due one because she was warned it might take two days when she mailed it.

Apparently, first grade arithmetic has gone the way of customer service at the post office!
