In response to a previous opinion about marriage and procreation, I find several discrepancies in the argument that the “abnormal” lifestyle of homosexuals is unworthy of the sanctity of marriage.
For one, there are plenty of straight, married couples who choose to not procreate but remain committed in love. Second, millions of people struggle with infertility and are unable to reproduce even if they wish to. Are they therefore unworthy of marriage?
At a time when global population is pushing our planet beyond its capacity and having children is not a necessity but a lifestyle choice, procreation is not a valid argument against gay marriage.
Marriage is about love and commitment between two people, and there should be no different treatment if two men or two women choose this path. It seems some people are more concerned with advancing alienation and discrimination rather than protecting the sanctity of marriage.
