Scholarships shouldn't give preference to illegal immigrants

I had to sit down and write this after reading an Oct. 29 article in the Beyond the Region section, "Immigrant scholarship fund to start taking applications."

First, in my opinion this should be illegal to assist an illegal alien (they are not immigrants). I was appalled when I read that "officials say that all immigrant students can apply (here comes the part that made me shudder ... "but those who were brought to the country illegally will receive special focus)."

Why don't they just put up flashing signs at the borders that say, "Come on over. Do not bother to try to do it legally; we will help you first.' I can see that folks who try to do the legal and right thing mean nothing to our government.

We have become a nation of lawbreakers, unethical government, uncaring politicians and those who want to wipe out everything that America once stood for. God help us!
