There have been a lot of questions surrounding the recent departure of Carol Kaiser as superintendent of the Hanover Community School Corp. The Hanover School Board has issued a press release stating, "Ms. Kaiser has decided to leave the school corporation to pursue other opportunities."

But a severance agreement agreeing to pay Kaiser $150,000 indicates quite the opposite. The severance agreement states, in part, that Kaiser was relieved of her job duties. The severance agreement further states that the board "has indicated its intent to terminate the employment" of Kaiser. The severance agreement further goes on to state that Kaiser is to receive $50,000 in severance pay and $100,000 in compensatory damages, for a total of $150,000. Why wasn't this information contained in the board's press release?

Come on, school board, why not be honest with the public? The school board should be ashamed of itself.
