I say great job, Portage Mayor James Snyder, for acting in the capacity for which he was elected. As a mayor of a neighboring city, he was there when Gary needed help plowing the streets.

Snyder assisted Gary by clearing the streets to make sure emergency vehicles could get through if needed. It also made it possible for family and neighbors to check on the sick and elderly to make sure they had heat and food and, if not, transport them to another residence.

If all the cities in Lake County would work together as one coming from Porter County just did, I believe we would see a vibrant rebirth of the region.

Until all mayors follow in the footsteps of Snyder, we will have a bunch of people like Mark Oprisko, Sue Lynch and Liz Modesto who will halt progress.

Job well done, Mayor Snyder.
