South Shore CVA is trying to expand fiefdom

The South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority tried to take over the Porter and LaPorte County tourism bureaus. These two counties have rejected consolidation attempts with an emphatic no.

Unfazed by any criticisms, Speros Batistatos is now attempting to expand his fiefdom southward to Newton County.

The elephant in the room is the sequestration issue that canceled air shows around the country last year. Is everything back to normal now that the current administration has reopened the White House to the public? Have we found the money to fund the Air Force appearances?

It appears Northwest Indiana is blowing the "tourism as industry" issue way out of proportion. Any hotel/motel along the I-80/94 corridor will have overnight guests at any given time. It still remains to be seen if they were in town for a Frisbee tourney or just visiting the pigs.
