Spend tax revenue where money was collected

Lake County Councilman Ted Bilski, D-Hobart, is proposing a $25 wheel tax per vehicle in Lake County. The largest percentage, 20 percent, will go to Gary; however, other cities in Lake County will receive considerably less. For example, St. John will only be receiving 2 percent of the income from this proposed wheel tax.

The money collected should stay in the township/city from which they are collected!

Instead of proposing new taxes every time money is needed, how about some accountability for the use of the current money collected via property tax, sales tax, gasoline tax, the lottery and the casinos?

If you take a dollar from me, then use it irresponsibly, don’t get mad when I don’t want to give you $2 to make up for your mismanagement of the first.
