Tax incomes in every Hoosier county equally

I agree 100 percent with Susan Zivich’s view on the Lake County income tax debate.

While 90 counties in the state enjoy the 1 percent property tax cap, only property owners in Lake and St. Joseph counties have been saddled with an additional tax burden because of previous debt obligations. This additional tax was and is completely unfair to the taxpayers of Lake and St. Joseph counties.

Since the additional tax was allowed because of previous debts, it is only fair and equitable to repeal the additional tax over and above the 1 percent tax cap if a county income tax is implemented. If all 92 counties have a local income tax, it is only fair that the property tax caps be just as fair.

I hope state Sen. Ed Charbonneau and his constituents are listening.
