Learning through the use of muscle memory is the reason students need to learn cursive handwriting.

Think about how the whole body is used to learn to ride a bicycle and how quickly one learns to do it. The brain assimilates the information from all the systems in our body and sends the information to the neurons in the brain needed for the job to be successful and automatic.

The muscle memory of cursive handwriting increases learning along with the sensory systems of seeing, hearing, talking and touch.

For increased efficiency, one must also consider the utensils needed for learning through cursive writing. The more of a drag the pencil has going across textured paper with a dark No. 2 pencil, the stronger the brain connections.
