Tell me how a background check violates Constitution

I am curious as to why a law-abiding citizen would object to a background check.

I can understand objecting to the type of guns a person can own. I personally don't have a use for a semi-automatic rifle. If someone who has passed a background check wants one, so be it. The ban on semi-automatic weapons and limited capacity magazines are not that important. What is important are the mental and character traits of the person that owns them.

Let's save a lot of time and money in our government and pass a law that requires mandatory background checks for all gun purchases. This should include guns shops, gun shows and private sales. Possibly a law that requires a firearm owners identification card.

To buy a gun you must possess an ID card that includes the background check before it is issued. My wife and I personally own a firearm. We had a background check. It's no big deal.

Someone tell me how that violates the Second Amendment and the right to bear arms.
