On March 20, my husband and I took a pickup load of auction items out to the Expo Center in Valparaiso. While we were unwrapping items and setting them up on the tables, my husband, Rich, collapsed and dropped to the concrete floor.

I would like to thank all the people who rushed to our aid and helped me with him. A retired firefighter started CPR before the ambulance arrived. The doctor said CPR done that fast is what saved my husband. Had that firefighter not been there at that exact time, my husband probably would not be here today.

The paramedics arrived in what I think must have been record time. They worked on him without stopping and had him in the emergency room less than 30 minutes of him collapsing.

I have my husband with me today because the doctors, nurses, paramedics, housekeeping and many other people did what they do best to save him.

Thank you to everybody for all the prayers, words of comfort, calls and cards.
