Having participated in the 14th annual Victory for Veterans Memorial ride, I am humbled by the experience, extremely grateful to the men and women of our armed forces (past and present), and amazed at the turnout as well as the coordinated efforts of our law enforcement personnel in the region.

Dyer, Highland, Gary, Griffith, Merrillville, Munster and Schererville police, along with the Lake County Sherriff’s Department, provided thorough and efficient traffic regulation to allow the motorcade of motorcyclists to travel unimpeded through the route.

Not wanting the procession interrupted, honoring the cause and the nature of riding in a large pack, I’m wondering how it happens that requests are not made to the railroads operating across the route to suspend train movement for a brief period on a Sunday morning. Hoping the 15th annual ride is not broken up by two trains.

God bless America and her veterans!
