Recently on the news, we have been hearing of a controversy on texting while driving. Statistics show that texting while driving is almost as dangerous as drunk driving. The distraction of your phone takes your eyes off the road.
Several stories told of pedestrians being hit as a result of people texting while driving. The big argument is how long people should be placed in jail if they killed someone by hitting them. Some people say these distracted drivers should be in jail for the rest of their life because they consider it a murder. But others claim that if it was their family member, they would know it was a mistake and would only like them to be in jail for a shorter sentence.
In my opinion, people don't really know what it feels like until it happens to them. That is why people should treat texting while driving as a huge danger threat and not do it. That would prevent several deaths.
