It is time that we begin looking beyond the instrument of violence and look toward a real solution to the issue. We need to understand the mind behind the trigger.

Parents need to be involved in their children's lives, and there must be communication between the school and the parents. If we believe the child will harm themselves or others, then we need to get that child some help. Many times, the child needs an impartial third party who is not vested in the outcome in order to understand an issue and resolve it.

If we fail to recognize the signs of a breakdown, then who is ultimately responsible? It is the mind behind the trigger of one of these weapons that is the problem. Outlawing guns does nothing except create more outlaws. We need to take responsibility and understand why people are turning to violence.
