We hear elected officials talk all the time about how much they love “Made in America.” So I’m shocked that Congress hasn’t done anything to promote it, like approving the Currency Reform for Fair Trade Act.

America should respond when countries cheat at trade by manipulating their currencies. It creates a hidden tax on American manufacturers trying to export, and an uneven playing field for those who compete with imports. The results are layoffs, a rising trade deficit, and closed factories. The manufacturing recovery has completely sputtered out!

We make a lot of things in Indiana, and our congressional delegation should step up for our manufacturers and workers. My congressman has by co-sponsoring this currency bill.

We need to defend our jobs and stop other countries from cheating at trade.

Thank you, Rep. Pete Visclosky, for showing us you love “Made in America!”
